When to get your Bryant roof inspected

Saline County has 291 hail reports on NOAA's record, 195 of them 1 inch or larger, and April is the peak month. Much of that damage can't be seen from the yard.

Four times to book an inspection

  1. After a hail stormHail bruises shingles and knocks off their granules, the gritty coating on top.
  2. After a wind stormStraight-line winds and severe thunderstorms can lift shingle tabs and pull flashing loose, and rain then runs in under them.
  3. When your roof turns 7Arkansas Insurance Department Bulletin 17-2023 lets insurers put roofs 7 years or older on a roof schedule that pays actual cash value.
  4. When a stain shows up insideWater has already gotten past the shingles, and we find the leak as part of the free inspection.

Quick answers before you book

Here's how the visit goes and who you'll talk to.

How long does a roof inspection take?

About an hour on the roof. In an emergency, we come out the same day, within a few hours of your call.

Who comes out to meet me?

Jon Speer, our sales manager, meets homeowners. He's the person you'll talk to about what we found and what it costs to fix.

Will you tell me I need a new roof?

Only if the photos show the roof needs a full replacement. You see a photo of each problem we find, and you're welcome to show those and the written estimate to another roofer.

What if water is coming in right now?

Call (501) 307-1440. A crew comes the same day, within a few hours, and tarps the roof to stop the water.

What we check during your roof inspection

A roof inspection with us covers the roofing system, the attic, and the paperwork, in this order.

  1. Shingles or metal panels

We walk the roof and look over the shingles or panels on every slope for hail hits, wind lift, and wear.

  2. Flashing at chimneys and walls

Flashing is the metal that seals the joints where the roof meets a chimney or wall. It should be tight, flat, and free of rust.

  3. Valleys

Valleys are the channels where two roof slopes meet, and they carry the most water. We look for worn or cracked shingles there.

A valley between two hips, one of the first places we look.
  4. Roof vents and pipe vents

Each vent is a hole through the roof, so we check the seal around it for cracks and gaps.

A chimney, skylights, and pipe vents, each one sealed where it meets the shingles.
  5. Decking, seen from the attic

Decking is the wood under the shingles. Where the attic lets us reach it, we look at its underside for water stains, soft spots, and daylight.

A drip inside? See roof leak detection.

  6. Photos and a written estimate

You get photos of what we found and a written estimate for the work. Filing a claim? Your adjuster gets the same photos and estimate.

Answers about insurance, hail, and checking out a roofer.

Answered 24/7(501) 307-1440
How often should I have my roof inspected?

After every hail or wind storm. Lifetime Construction Builders inspects free for every caller, so a check after each storm costs you nothing.

Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?

Have the roof looked at first. The Arkansas Insurance Department advises a roofer's inspection and weighing the repair cost against your deductible. Lifetime Construction Builders gives you photos and a written estimate free, so you can decide before you file.

Will my insurance pay for roof damage?

Your insurer decides, not the roofer. Lifetime Construction Builders helps with your insurance claim at no extra cost and gives your adjuster our photos and estimate. Arkansas allows a separate wind and hail deductible (Bulletin 17-2023), so check your policy.

Is there a deadline to file a hail or wind claim?

Yes. Under Arkansas Insurance Department Bulletin 19-2020, insurers must allow 365 days from when you found, or should have found, the damage. Lifetime Construction Builders inspects free, so you can know what you have well inside that window.

Does small hail damage a roof?

Yes, it can. A 2025 IBHS study found hail under 1 inch knocks granules off shingles. Weathered shingles hit by small hail were then about ten times more likely to be damaged by later severe hail. Lifetime Construction Builders checks for it free.

How do I check that a roofer is licensed in Arkansas?

Ask for the Residential Roofing Registration number. Arkansas has required one of roofing contractors doing residential jobs over $2,000 since January 1, 2022. Lifetime Construction Builders' number is RR0540591024, and we carry $1M general liability and $2M workers' comp.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes. Lifetime Construction Builders gives veterans a 5% military discount on roofing work. The inspection and written estimate stay free for everyone.

Who owns Lifetime Construction Builders?

Daniel Retana has owned Lifetime Construction Builders since 2009. It's a family-owned company with its office at 3519 Market Place Avenue, Suite 400, in Bryant.
